Stories of fighting spirits

In 2010, when Regula Tschumi asked Ataa Oko about the meaning of the spirits he was drawing, he used to tell her long stories. His spiritual beings now often did something bad, they ate and killed each other, stole fruits from the trees of their neighbours and seduced each others women. At the end of this year, Ataa Oko suffered a severe stroke and lost his speech completely, and he could no longer draw for several month.

Coffin miniatures

Before Paa Joe moved in 2008 from Nungua to Pombiman, coffin miniatures were only made in his studio by his apprentices. They were allowed to sell their pieces to tourists so that they got some pocket money.
