Fancy Dress Festival

A street carnival in the Central Region, Ghana

In the Central Region in Ghana the colourful Fancy Dress Festival takes place every year between Christmas and New Year. On this occasion different mask groups perform and dance in the public to the music of their brass band. Their gorgeous costumes and face masks are made every year by special tailors and artists. The two most important festivals take place during Christmas in Takoradi and on the first of January in Winneba.
