There is a large community of Eritreans and Ethiopians living in Italy, in particular Rome, who still attend the services of their Orthodox churche in the diaspora.

The members of the Eritrean Orthodox Church in Rome celebrate especially St Michael the Archangel with an impressive festival. On this occasion the faithful attend the service in their traditional white cotton robes. The highlight of the celebration is a procession in front of the church, during which the priests appear in their precious vestments.
